X and Y chromosome question? (boy or girl)?
Ok, so my friend's dad's girlfriend is pregnant. (with his baby obviously) and she is 2 months. Me and my friend were intersted in what the babies gender would be. The father's other kids in order are boy, girl, boy then boy. So does this mean they have the higher risk of having a boy? Also the girlfriend has had one son before. But she took some old wive's tale tests and they all said girl. We are very curious on what the gender will be! So what can the gender be? What do you think?

You have a 50% chance of either gender.
Like you said, X or Y chromosome. The sperm is either an X or a Y. If an X sperm meets up with the X egg (XX) you have a girl. If a Y sperm meets up with the X egg, (XY) you have a boy.
There is absloutly no way to predetermine gender. It's whatever chromosome sperm makes it to the egg first out of the BILLIONS in the ejaculate.

It isn't having an X and a Y chromosome makes a male or that having two X's makes you a female. It is what our cells do with these chromosomes that makes a baby grow as a boy or a girl.
Specifically, there is a gene on the Y chromosome called SRY that makes the big difference. This gene tells a baby to be a boy. So in the absence of the SRY gene, babies develop into girls.
Another thing is that there are some rare cases where someone has two X's but also has an SRY gene. The baby looks to be male. But there are also cases where an XY person has an SRY that doesn't work . The baby looks to be female. But also the SRY gene isn't enough.

All womens eggs are the X chromosome, men carry the X and Y chromosome in their sperm (a number of them will have the X chromosome and the rest will have the Y chromosome). When he ejaculates the sperm race towards the egg and whichever one gets there first and fertilises it determines the sex of the baby, so if a Y chromosome sperm fertilises the egg it will be a boy, if a X chromosome sperm fertilises the egg it will be a girl. Its a 50/50 chance really and you cant tell what the sex of the baby is more likely to be based on previous children as its 50/50 every time.

It all has to do with the sex gene. The egg carries only one and it is the x chromosome, sperm can either carry x or y and depending on which one fertilizes the egg determines wither it will be a boy or a girl. XX will be a girl while XY will be a boy

Technically it is 50/50 and no info you have can give you insight, but studies on sperm behavior show that male sperm are faster but die quicker than female sperm. If she knows what day she ovulated and what day they had sex you may be able to figure out which sex is more likely. If they had sex while she was ovulating then it is probably a male because boy sperm swim faster, but if they had sex a few days before she ovulated, then it is most likely a female because while slower, they live longer in the body.

I have worked with a lot of women on this issue, and have seen very few health related problems that cause such pain and anxiety as wanting to have a child and not being able to. The good news is that all the women who I have worked with who have changed diet and lifestyle factors have eventually conceived.

the sex is determined at conception by the sperm. its not genetic, its not based on what the other kids genders are...nothing. its simply which sperm got there fastest.
google the shettles method. its really interesting, but dont count on it cause it didnt work for me and my husband.
