Should you refrigerate a bulb of garlic?

How long would a bulb last at home, refrigerated or not? How would you know it is not good anymore? Should a clove be very soft?

Garlic should be stored in a cool dark place, but not the refrigerator which is too humid for it. Garlic will start to lose its flavor if and when the cloves begin to sprout and/or shrivel. Garlic should not be consumed if you see any signs of mold on the papery-skin

    Don't refrigerate garlic or onions

Keep in a cool (not cold) dark place

It will last a few weeks before it begins to sprout and then it loses much of its flavor and becomes slightly bitter.
