Male stray cat is sick and how do I take care of him?
I have a stray cat that I named Goober because when he sneezes his face is all scrunched up. I can't tell but he is a beautiful cat.
Well Goober I believe has horrible allergies because he sneezes 6 times in a row.
And also Goober likes to come inside my house so he can "meow" with my cats. (Meow in quotes because I am teaching him because his is really raspy)
I'm only fourteen years old so I can't do anything but is there a food that I can give him so that he will be healthy? My parents and I take really good care of him and his friend Herman. We make sure that my cats stay away from Goober just in case he has an illness or something. The allergies didn't just start they happened the first day we met him when he was a kitten. I can't call the vet because they would either put him down or come to my house and take ALL of the stray cats away which I do not want at all though its probably for the best.
Could you give me advice?
Also what are the symptoms of Feline Leukemia?

Well, I think Goober might have a cold instead of allergies. You see usually when cats or dogs have allergies they act different then people who sneeze and have runny eyes and noses, instead animals with allergies tend to have itchy skin.
Unfortunately there isn't a special food that will make Goober better if he is sick. The good news though is that some simple medicine(antibiotics) should clear it up. That is if he does have an upper respiratory infection and not feline leukemia or aids. All of those illnesses are contagious so it's very important you continue to keep other cats away from Goober. Both feline aids and leukemia are diseases that make the cats immune system weak and unable to fight illnesses. It is spread through close contact(body fluids, like blood and saliva) like breeding and fighting. Cats can live with the illness but must be kept indoors away from germs and stress and other healthy cats.
The vet would be your best help. They will not take away your other cats or jump to putting Goober down, but rather try to find out whats wrong and treat him. Please consider bringing him to a local vet where they can test him for those illnesses and prescribe any medicine needed.

Your cat is suffering and is very ill. He needs to be seen by a veterinarian now. Most vets will work with you if you cannot afford treatment. Please do not let your pet suffer- take him to the vet.
Symptons of Feline Leukemia!
The three forms of feline leukemia are chest, abdominal, and multicentric. The signs that the cat shows depend on the lymph nodes and organs involved.
Chest symptoms include enlarged chest lymph nodes, compressed windpipe and esophagus, fluid accumulation in the chest, breathing difficulties, coughing, and gagging.
In abdominal leukemia, malignant cells may be present in the intestine, lymph nodes, liver, spleen, or kidney. There may be a decrease in appetite, depression, weight loss, dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, anemia, and jaundice.
Multicentric leukemia causes greatly enlarged lymph nodes under the skin and tumor formation in many organs. The cat may or may not have a fever.
PROGRESSION OF DISEASE:
Feline leukemia begins with infection of the mouth tissues. It spreads from the mouth by blood cells and infects the lymph glands. At this stage, most cats are able to block the infection. If it invades the bone marrow, the cat is infected for life. It then spreads through the blood through the circulation. Tissues such as the tear glands, salivary glands, and urinary bladder become infected. The cat is now shedding the virus, and becomes infectious to other cats.

This is not allergies. This is a very infectious disease of cats in their respiratory system. Please
do keep him away from your cats. Wash your hands, change your outer clothes and shoes so your cats don't become sick. Can't you bring Goober to the vet? Most towns do not have the resources to come out and catch all the feral (wild living) cats. I think you are worrying without a need, unless your community is very unusual. Please see if the vet can treat him. It may just take antibiotics to get him better. If he has leukemia, which kills the immune system and allows all sorts of other infections.

You should probably take him to the vet. Symptoms of Feline Leukemia is sneezing and mucus will come out of their nose, they lose weight and will evenually quit eating and they will also vomit. The vet has a test that can be done to see if they have leukemia. I had 2 cats put to sleep because of that. If the cat has leukemia it is not a good thing to see your cat go threw.

The first question is why are your two females not spayed, since if they are sexually mature, you really are asking for trouble. But, perhaps they are very young kittens and it hasn't been done yet. You have fed him, so you now have a friend. Sneezing is really not a big deal, and if your cats have had their FVRCP vaccinations, they will have protection. Add some mashed pumpkin (not with spices) to the food, and the extra fiber will help with any diarrhea. You could take him to a shelter or vet to be scanned for a microchip. There usually is no fee. You shouldn't be required to surrender him, so you can continue to care for him.

I would call the vet. It is very selfish of you to not want them to take the stray cats. They could possibly get homes if not that then they will most likely be put down but that is better than it producing 2 or more litters a year then those kittens doing the same. The cat probably has a respritory infection

1. Sneezing is not a symptom of feline leukaemia.
2. Sometimes animals are born with a lot of allergies (we had a family of guinea pigs and some of them had sneezing problems and those ones all died the same way).
3. Here is a link to a website with information on feline leukaemia

Hope this has helped.
