Oregon day trip locations?

my new years resolution is to take more trips and see everything Oregon has to offer. I am especially interested in outdoor based attractions and anything where I can get out and explore. I am more interested in self guided tours, and natural wonders. if anyone has seen or been somewhere really cool let me know :)

Update:

I do currently live in Oreogn

Head for the Rogue Valley. We offer white water rafting on the Rogue River in the summer. Climb the "Tablerocks", two famous mesas between Central Point and Gold Hill, that have an infamous past.

Gold Hill is steeped in gold mining history with a museum and historic buildings. It also has an odity

known as the "Vortex" that is open in the summer months.

Jacksonville is a slice of the past and the doorway to the Applegate Valley that is peppered with

vinyards and winerys that produce some of the country's best wine. There are tasting rooms and

wine paring samples and breath taking views.

Ashland is the cultural center, home to the world famous Shakespeare Fesitval and the hands-on

    Science Works museum.

All of this is about an hour and a half from Crater Lake National Park. The only National Park in

Oregon and the deepest lake in North America.

We are a wealth of back roads, friendly people, campgrounds and natural wonders.

halfway into Oregon, flow west to the sea and persist with it north. alongside the way is a in call for airplane (WWII ?) museum and the Tillamook cheese and ice cream production unit. there is likewise a short vacationer railroad to work out the area (in all possibility basically runs some weekends). The coast would be extremely different from San Diego. then you could come east to Portland. 60 miles north (or so) be certain you flow up and notice Mt St Helens. it truly is an marvelous show of the potential and rigidity of mom nature. EDIT: observed your different answer. once you're performed in Seattle, drop the condominium vehicle off in Seattle and take Amtrak into Vancouver B C. appealing 4 hour journey. no decide for for a vehicle in Vancouver (except you're going even extra). do not ignore your passports, and take some CDN$ to make existence much less confusing up there.

If you are in to the Pacific Coast, Oregon is beautiful. (Maybe Lincoln City?)

But if you are in to wilderness and getting away from crowds. Follow Rt 395 from Reno, up through California and in to Eastern Oregon. It is devoid of people in many places, the scenery is diverse and beautiful. It ends at Rt 84. Keep the gas tank full. Gas stations are few and far between.
