What are some good games for the Wii?

I'm in my early 30's and bought a Wii for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it and I'm starting to get into it and back into console gaming. (I've been out since my 2nd PS2 quit on me 5 or more years ago.) What are some good games to look for on the Wii? Good for my age group, good replay value, and graphically impressive as far as the Wii goes ect. I like fighter's, first person shooters, and a good Action Adventure/Story Line game. I'm sick of racing games, party games loaded with mini games, or head ache strategy games. I've never owned but would like to try a music game and perhaps something different that the shows off the Wii's motion abilities. I'm also a huge Star Wars fan.

I'm thinking Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, the Beatles Rock Band, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, and/or Final Fantasy. Suggestions?

PS- I'd like to try the Wii fit but I weight more then 300 lbs. Does the Wii Fit have a max weight where it won't work if you exceed it? Is the Wii Fit worth the purchase cost?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a great smash-em-up type game.

The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy are great adventure games

This year (2010) there will be a game release called Red Steel 2, it uses the Wii remote as a gun and also as a sword. The original 'Red Steel' was an ok game and you can get it cheap these days.

I was able to finish Star Wars, the force unleashed in one day, so I wouldn't recommend buying it.

Wii Fit does have a weight limit of 150kg (330 lbs). If you do buy Wii Fit, make sure you get Wii Fit Plus. Its the same as Wii fit, but with more activities.

    For Multiplayer games:

    Mario Kart Wii

    Super Smash Bros. Brawl

    New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Reflex Edition (though quite violent)

Wii Music (though not a great game)

Guitar Hero World Tour, 3, 5, or Band Hero

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic (Winter) Games

    Wii Sports Resort (Very fun)

    Single Player:

    All of above

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

    Metroid: Prime Series

    Wii Fit/ Wii Fit Plus+

These are Most of the good games I can think of, of the ones I have. They are mostly multiplayer games, tho they are all good for single player as well.

Everyone's made great suggestions, I just wanted to add Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, hands down one of the best games on the system. Of course, it's probably not something you want your daughter playing!

The No More Heroes series is also good stuff, but again, a hard M rating on those.

If you want some Sandbox type games, go for Bully: Scholarship Edition, Scarface and The Godfather. Proof positive that a GTA game CAN work on the Wii if Rockstar tried hard enough.

Also, for a fun arcade-y type racing game, Need For Speed: Nitro.

My top recommendations are as follows (In no particular order):

Super Mario Galaxy: GREAT game. Excellent replay value, immersive controls and an attractive interface makes for one of the best games that has come out on the Wii so far, in my opinion. It takes a few levels to really get used to the controls and its unique 3D interface, but it is a fantastic game.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. : Also a very good game. It doesn't have the replayability that some games have, but it has its merits. If you talk to people that have played the game on other consoles (mainly PS3) you may get jealous, as the storyline has been lazily executed in the Wii version, as well as the graphics. Don't listen to them. Although they are correct in some respects, (Krome got really lazy when making the Wii version), the sheer immersion of the controls and the way that you get to interact in the game is a gem. This will definitely give you a chance to mess around with the motion capabilities for the Wii. Also, there is a duel mode (one of my favorite things to do when I have friends over) so when you get tired of story mode you can still have lightsaber battles and force choke the **** out of people.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl : The Story mode is extensive and definitely replayable (especially with different levels of difficulty available). One of the best group games, in my opinion. Plenty of unlockables to satiate your gaming need for achievements (or so Microsoft seems to think). You can play as some of your favorite Nintendo Characters while unlocking an old friend from Sega. It doesn't lend much to the controls, but it is an all around great game. From storymode to group battles to online tournaments, this game is your friend.

Super Mario Bros Wii: I've always been sort of a Nintendo fangirl, and if you grew up with the 8-bit classics, this game will be like seeing an old friend after a long time...you feel all of the comfort of familiarity, your friend has gotten way sexier with time...but seems a little condescending. Sound like a HS reunion yet? The game itself is very vibrant and well done. It shows off the motion capabilities of the wii while keeping the familiarity/comfort factor in play at the same time. (They missed an opportunity by not making the classic controller compatible with the game) Multiplayer is fun, but can also ruin marriages so I caution you, lol ^_^. Try not to throw people into the lava too many times...it gets ugly.

Wii Play: I know that you said you are tired of minigames, but this is a good game. The choices are well-rounded (with a shooting game, billiards, and laser hockey being a few) and it is fun to play with other people.

Zelda- Twilight Princess: You should own this game. SUCH a great RPG. In my opinion, it is right up there with Ocarina of Time. I'm not even going to waste time describing this game, because it would ruin it. If you are a self-respecting gamer you will play this game.

Otherwise I would suggest renting games at your local video rental store to get an idea of what you would like first. Games are an investment. They are your friend. Good luck and enjoy!

Also...the Wii fit board has a weight limit of 300lbs. It is worthwhile for games that would require the board (such as snowboarding games and the like). If you are looking for a way to lose weight with the Wii, there are games that do not require the Wii Fit board and are just as effective.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - is great for a family. It's a really fun game, and it's extremely addicting.

Wii Sports Resort - Good game, Wii Motion Plus, but after a week or so it gets very boring (Same with Wii Fit)

Super Mario Galaxy - good graphics, single player. i doubt you'll finish this game. ha-ha.

    Wii Music - Nintendo's little secret...lol

There are some Star-Wars games out there. I hope this helped! :D

Don't get Wii Fit. It's just a waste. I lost more weight by playing Action games than sport games (Well technically by playing REAL Sports) Here are some good games that are for VC (You can get them on the Wii Shop Channel), GameCube (Works for Wii), WiiWare, old, just released, and not released Wii games.

    VC

-Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I recommend getting Collectors Edition or Master Quest for GC/Wii)

-Zelda: Majora's Mask (I recommend getting Collectors Edition for GC/Wii

    -Mario 64

    -Super Mario World

    -Super Smash Bros. 64

    -Punch Out

    -Super Punch Out

    GameCube

-Zelda: Twilight Princess (Also for Wii)

-Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest

-Zelda: Collectors Edition (Well it only contains 4 great Zelda classics)

    -Zelda: Wind Waker

    -Zelda: Four Swords

    -Mario Sunshine

    -Super Smash Bros. Melee

    -Lego Star Wars: The VideoGame

-Lego Star Wars II: Original Trilogy

Old: (By old I mean by before Christmas 2009)

-Zelda: Twilight Princess (Also for GameCube)

    -Super Mario Galaxy

-No More Heroes (Note: Contains a lot of animated blood)

    -Rock Band and Guitar Hero

-Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex and CoD World at War (I don't like it but I think you will)

    -New Super Mario Bros.

    -Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon

-Punch Out (I'm sure you will love it)

    -Super Smash Bros. Brawl

-Sega Superstars Tennis (It is sports but it will be very GREAT for your family)

-Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

    -Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

    Just released:

-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearer

-No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle (Note: Contains a lot of animated blood)

-(There are some more but I have a huge ADD so I can't remember)

    WiiWare:

    -Pokemon: Rumble

    -Megaman 9

    -Megaman 10 (Not released yet)

    Not released yet

    -Super Mario Galaxy 2

    -Zelda Wii 2010/2011 (2010 I'm sure)

    -Metroid: The Other M

-Reginleiv (Note: It may NOT come out in the U.S. I only saw the Japanese trailer)

-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

-Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Source(s): I have a Wii for almost 2 years. Trust me.
