Are guitar strings parallel ?

I'm rebuilding an old six string. The nut is okay but I've got to replace the bridge and saddle. What's the proper distance between strings ?

They are not parallel. While the nut is around 1 11/16" or so the saddle is more like 2 1/4". The exact measurements depend on your tastes.

No, they arent parallel, they are slightly farther apart at the bridge than at the nut. Exact measurements I couldnt say, it depends on the bridge you pick.
