I agree with Jason, a Boxer dog would be the most valuable purchase you could make, they are awesome...

I'm also assuming that you're not talking about 5-6 thousand dollars, since your options are around the 500-600 dollar mark, guessing it's an Asian currency? lol.

Don't waste time on a PSP or DS, if you're getting something so small that they have to squint to see the screen, you may as well get an ipod, get him into some kind of music, as i'm sure he'll have a gaming option at home anyway.

x-box360 or ps3 with the game "call of duty: modern warfare 2" people from 11-50 years old play that game. you'll have to get wireless internet connection though from comcast or other providers. x-box360 charges people an additional $10 per month to be able to play that game online while ps3 doesn't. of course, ps3 is more costly upfront but it comes with a blu-ray player for watching movies as well. i went with the ps3. buy it all online cause it's usually cheaper. ps3+game= $350. internet connection per month=$30-$80. if you already have internet at home, you just need to buy a wireless router to send the signal to ps3. a router will cost about $40.

another good game on ps3 is street fighter 4. don't bother getting other games aside from that though.

p.s: find out what system his friends have so that he can play with them online.

among ur options i don't think that agood psp is available in 5000-6000. so ps-2 is definitely better.

personally i do feel that u should gift him something else. he is a young boy n i don't feel that gifting him gaming gadgets is a good option. u should gift him a thing that he will cheer the most n also will be useful 2 him.

if you want a game i would suggest the xbox 360 it more like a family system it has all sort of games for the whole family it round about 300 dollar for the one with the hdd it's up to you

I suggest to gift DS as it as double screen one of them touch screen , and has a camera in front and good graphic games

umm maybe give it to him for study :) put it in his bank account and yer leave it in there for future but i would suggest something also small like a PSP or nintendo DS
