Should I tell my history to stop her annoying rants?

I re made this question because everyone was mis reading it and going a bit to far.

I'm not religious but my history teacher always rants on religion, the catholic school board and everything. I go to a public school, so why should she be doing these things? I know she's an atheist but she shouldn't bring religious arguments to school. It's not even like she's offending me, but she shouldn't be talking about the bible being fictional when we are learning about the European fur trade. Our class is pretty religious and she knows when she says these things everyone yells and argues (which is why i'm mad) and it's soo annoying. It's not even history anymore. Should I talk to her about it?

Update:

History teacher* sorry about that.

Update 2:

Read the additional details smart a*s :)

Yes, she should not be ranting about her personal religious views to a class when it has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Tell her you don't appreciate it anymore than you would a catholic, jewish, muslim, hindu, scientologist, flying spaghetti monsterist, or satanist impressing their views upon a large amount of young minds.

If she continues, report her to the principal. And if she continues still, report her and the principal to the school board.

The school is not her personal soapbox.

Tell you school principal. This teacher can and most likely will be fired for this, as she should be. This is unacceptable. Definitely tell your parents, too, and encourage your classmates to do the same. If possible, get a recording of her rantings. If you can't, it's okay, everyone in the class will back you up.

I high school, I had an English teacher who was supposed to be teaching writing, but instead we got an ear full of political science. I learned a lot about Nixon and watergate, but not much about writing.

If this is really what's going on, and you're not misinterpreting presentation of facts with an inappropriate rant, you should mention it to the principal. Most teachers are too professional, and also know better, than to force their views on students.

I'm going to guess, however, that if this teacher kept going on about Jesus, you would have no objection. I worked in a public school where they would sing gospel songs at assemblies. The fact that there were only Christian kids in this school was irrelevant. It was wrong, but I was not in a position to say anything about it.

Edit: Pfft, I agree with you. I'd like some specific examples. I'm not sure this person is capable of understanding what this teacher is saying.

Wow just wow to earlier posts...

To your question, I would not speak to her personally. If she brings up a subject many times that she knows just pisses off students then she will not care if one of those students come up to speak to her.

If I were you, I would either talk to a principal, another trusted teacher, or have your parents do the job for you. That's the only way this will get done. Hope things get better.

I'm not religious but I don't push my views on others...

If you are comfortable talking to her about it, by all means say something. Her opinions on religion are not appropriate classroom lectures. If she does not stop, you should talk to the principal about it. It is no different than if she was religious and always ranting about why people should believe in God, and follow the Bible. The school would certainly put a stop to that...this is no different.

If theistic religion cannot be taught in school then Atheism can't be taught either. The teacher has the right to hold whatever beliefs she might; but she does not have the right to speak on them in a school classroom.

You can make a complaint to the Principal and to the School board.

Just tell her you get very distracted by the arguments about religion (if what she says about religion really has nothing to do with the historical stuff you are learning) and you would like to focus on and learn more about the history she is teaching.

Your history teacher should learn about the HISTORICAL facts that have been found to be true about the bible. Like the walls of Jericho, Israelites in the deserts and the garden of eden in turkey or africa being a real place. Also the beginning of Christianity started in the new testament. So all history and all true.

As her student, talking to her about it won't get you very far. In fact, it will probably end badly since she will most likely take offense. A better way to go about this would be to inform an adult of the situation, someone who has connections to the schoolboard, and can pull her aside. Adult to adult would be much more effective than student informing teacher.
