Is Verizon's contract phone deposit around the same as AT&T's?
Ok, so I'm debating on which provider to sign with. Right now, I have a prepaid account with AT&T. Been with them for 4 yrs. In those 4yrs I've only had payment issues twice. But right now, I simply don't care for prepaid anymore. I can get a contract plan with AT&T or Verizon, with a smartphone unlimited data, that'll actually be somewhat cheaper than my prepaid plan. And the prepaid plans are so limited. But getting back to my original thoughts, I went to Verizon last week. I told them that I didn't have any credit history. So, they checked out my past history with my cell phone bills. They then told me that my deposit would be about 130.00, plus the contract smartphone price. (which was a Droid) I think the Droid was about 200.00+ Now, I haven't checked out AT&T's deposit. But I just want to know, will it be around the same as the Verizon deposit?

Verizon has three different deposit amounts normally. They go no higher than 400 and what you give them for a deposit earns 3 percent interest and nowhere else does that. Att on the other hand goes all the way up to a 1200 dollar deposit and I know it because I've seen one of my customers get quoted that amount. I would go with verizon... they've got the best service and they are always spending money trying to improve their coverage. I know I talked to the Regional VP of the Southeast and he said in Alabama ( where I live) they spent 300 million this past year putting up towers and improving coverage. I asked my ATT rep if he knew how much they spent last year trying to improve.... he had no answer for me....

Once you're ready to cancel with Sprint, call them and have them do a credit check. There are various deposit levels, ranging from $200 to $1000 for severely bad credit. You won't know how much deposit (if any) you'd have to pay until they run it through their system.

Every carrier has they’re own credit criteria. Many times a carrier will relax its standards depending on market conditions. Some will tweak the deposit against spending limits. I have experienced Sprint’s lenient on no deposits but less of a spending limit. This doesn’t matter because of package rate plans. Now with Any mobile Anytime. You can get a plan for $69.99 and have unlimited data text and any mobile talk. Good luck!!

It usually is. However, I've never heard of an AT&T smart phone contract deposit less than $500.
