Christians:If Christ came that I might have life more abundantly, why does my life seem like never ending pain?

Thanks in advance for your answers. God bless.

John 10:10 (New King James Version)

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

This too shall pass....consider life a light affliction....with GOD, you will be victorious. Hang in there !!! Romans 8 (Amplified Bible) 18[But what of that?] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and [a]for us and [b]conferred on us!

1 Peter 5 (Amplified Bible)7Casting the [a]whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [b]once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you [c]watchfully

2 Timothy 2 (Amplified Bible) 3Take [with me] your share of the hardships and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6 (Amplified Bible) 11Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

1 Samuel 17 (Amplified Bible) 47And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give you into our hands.

Psalm 91 (Amplified Bible) 1HE WHO [a]dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

2I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!

3For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

4[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.

5You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,

6Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

7A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.

Not sure about Catechism. But Jesus came to give all of us a chance to live forever right here on earth starting when the Kingdom takes possession back of the earth from Satans rule. More abundantly by being able to enjoy that everlasting lif\e

Well, Mike, there is heaven--that is eternal life. We will not have any pain there. Do not be weary in well-doing. Lay up treasures in heaven. Jesus also said these things. He also said it would get rough before He returned. Have hope, be encouraged. You don't want to gain the whole world and lose your own soul. Life is tough right now for a lot of people, if you're talking about money. What goes up must come down. We (the US) had a bunch of good years and then woosh. It isn't just you. Hang in there.

Who ever promised you that life was a rose garden?

Look at Jesus' life, or Peter's, or Paul's.

More abundantly means more sustantively, not easier.

The Holy Spirit is growing you up, to be more and more Christ-like, in preparation for His mission for you [which you may or may not accept].

The hardest thing I've ever done was to give Praise for things that I'm not happy about, yet we are suppose to because God does have a plan.

I remember I wanted to buy a really nice house we were renting. Couldn't do it. I was devastated and we moved. A year later, a car drove right through the house and took out the bedroom where we were sleeping and our newborn would have been hit in the crib first. See what I mean.

    have it more abundantly.

    Bill Said:

We all get discouraged from time to time. I am 62 years old and all of a sudden my business is losing money. It is always easier to trust when things are going good. Hang in there I have been young and now I am old and He has never let me down.

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psa 37:9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

When you belong to the Lord you have Life Eternal that is about as abundant as it gets.

We still live in a fallen world that has Death, sin and the bad attitudes of unsaved people to live with.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

When we trust him we have Peace.

When we lean towards our own understanding we do not have Peace.

When we acknowledge him He directs our path and we can say ..

    Abba Father.

We know that nothing can harm us !

We know that if things get tough He will make them to work out to be for our good.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Trust and Obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus.

Ah, but are you following his instructions for living an "abundant" life? Nothing in this verse suggests that his coming instantly transformed the lives of anyone who heard him into a life of contentment and happiness. The preceeding verses make it clear that the sheep actually have to follow their good shepherd to reap the benefits of his love for them.

But you be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work. [ 2 Chronicles 15:7

Jesus Himself suffered in this world and if HE suffered, we will suffer even more, as we are sinners and He was not. When you learn to literally put God first in your life for everything, you will have life and have it more abundantly.

sorry for your pain. Regardless how much pain we face in life it will not last forever. Pain is feeling with dead end. and after pain comes joy .
