strange windows vista problem?

i have a lenovo 3000 n200 laptop running windows vista home premium and i have a strange and extremely annoying problem ,

every time i try to turn it on it shuts itself off at the start up screen two or three times (it's not a cooling issue) and trys to repair itself eventually having to restore to an earlier point , i have downloaded nothing suspect and have a good anti-virus , and besides even if it was a virus the restore would get rid of it wouldn't it ?

while it is on it works fine it's just annoying and inconvienient plus i can't download anything as i lose it at start up .... any help would be greatly appreciated and i will definitly give ten points to whomever can help

Update:

oh thats another thing i meant to say , i have ccleaner installed already and i tried cleaning the reg but it keeps telling me there are no issues which is strange because there was always at least one before this problem

maybe u need to re-install windows. the Boot sector is probably messed up if it tries to restore itself. Also try inserting a Vista DVD of the same version and click Repair my computer.

Sounds like errors in the boot sector of the hard drive. Try running check disk to fix the errors.

Sounds like a device or driver conflict or corrupt windows file

I would do a complete restore , with your blue button.

Would have said re seat your memory , but it does sound like a windows .dll corruption.
