Do moguls skiiers have knee problems after their careers are over?
Ive been watching the Olympics, particularly the moguls competition and was just wondering what affect these moguls have on these athletes knees. It looks like they take a beating and can't imagine it would be too good for a person after doing it every day for years and years.

Some do, some don't. I skied moguls competitively for years. Ultimately, the injuries I suffered over that time led to two surgeries on my left knee while I was in college - about 2 years after I retired from competition. I can still ski and all, but I need to work a lot harder to keep that leg in shape.
I also have friends who skied moguls longer than I did and came through without any major problems and no knee surgeries. The flip side is also true. I think it largely comes down to the people who have better technique - those seem to be the ones who make it through with fewer medical problems.

Yes, they do. In fact, some have knee problems during their careers too. Occasionally they may need surgery on their knees, but they can still compete once their injuries heal. Moguls are tough on the athletes bodies.

Yes, most skiers do, due to all the ups and downs and turning and taking that impact from the jump. Infact, i used to compete for 6 years in moguls and I already have bad knees from it.
