Buying a PS3 Questions?

2morrow is my Bday and I'm not sure if I should get a PS3. I have some ?s:

a.)I only have a 16-inch SDTV. The text and stuff isn't super small and unreadable is it?

b.)Easy to set up?

c.)I most likely won't have enough to buy a game. Should I still get it?

d.)Slims are reliable right? No hardware failure?

e.) PS4 ain't coming around anytime soon right? I don't wanna get a PS3 and then a year later PS4 comes out.

Sorry for so many questions.

Update:

Already have MW2 on my 360. I really just want a PS3 for Killzone 2 and some other exclusives.

    a) On the main menu, the XMB, the text should be fine. But ALL games are made in HD first, and SD is usually an afterthought. So while small text will be fine an an HDTV, it will be almost unreadable on an SDTV. My friend who has an sdtv always complains about not being able to read server lists, stats, and other text in most games.

    b) The other people said stuff like "read the manual" or "takes a while" but all you do is plug in the power and a/v cords and turn it on. Can't get any simpler than that.

    c) Theres not much point in buying it unless you buy it with a game. But if you can't get a game with it, heres some things you could do: browse the internet, check out Home, watch youtube videos, and download game demos from the playstation store.

    e) Best estimates place the ps4 at coming out sometime around 2013.

    a) Some text, like in-game maps and subtitles might be quite hard to read but some will be okay.

    b) It is easy to set up.

    c) If you do not have enough money to collect PS3 games, then don't buy it, those games are not cheap.

    d) Yes, Slims seem to be very reliable as long as you look after them.

    e) PS4 won't be coming out for quite a long time, probably not before 2016.

Overall. It's best to have a decent TV, and if you do use an SDTV, to use a bigger one than that, but most games will play fine on it. It is quite expensive to collect PS3 games, even if you buy them pre-owned, they are not cheap. Bare in mind that the Slim does not play any PS2 games.

It is also preferable to connect you PS3 to the internet, to do that, you need fast broadband, but you can get by without connecting it, but it's not as good:)

I have a small TV too, and the text is perfect, it is mildly easy to set up, it can take a little while, if you cant get a game do not get it (i`ll post some cheap and good games in the sources), slims seem to be good just do not put it on carpet, and the ps4 isn't even under development yet.

    a) for MOST of the text, while starting up. you should be fine. Games vary

    b) Very easy to set up ( check out manual )

    c) Its better if u get a game with it (CoD,Metal gear,Infamous, Littlebigplanet) something that will keep u busy

d)No hardware failure, but they do tend to overheat

    e) Dont expect ps4 for at least after 2-3 years

Easy to set up, if you can't buy a game, definitely don't buy it then. Hardware is top of the line. The next line of PS isn't coming out for another AT LEAST 3-4 years I heard, and it's even more likely it'll come out in 5+ years.

I wouldn't get it though, given your parameters. Definitely save up enough money to at least buy modern warefare 2.
