How late can you give heart worm pills?

Is it o.k. for me to give my dog a heart worm pill a week late?

Update:

I am going to ask my vet when I go there to get the pills, I would just like to know now how much of a hassle this could turn out to be.

This recently happened to us where we were 4 or 5 days late with the medication. I called our vet and he says there is a 7 day window and it would be OK to give it.

Best check with your vet - he can tell you.

See source for more information about heart worm preventatives.

I dont give my dogs their heartworm medication every month..There are no mosquitoes when its Blizzarding! My dogs Do get heartworm tests yearly.

You would never want to give heartworm pills to a dog that may have heartworm.

You should discuss this with your veterinarian and see whats works best for you & your dog.

This is something you should talk to your vet about? Don't trust just any bibo's opinion/or views on what medication should be administer to your dog.

Heart - worm medication is nothing to gamble with...and neither is your dogs life.

Yes your dog should be fine as long as you do give the pill to him or her.
