  • Need help with housing, please?

My husband and I are currently renting an apartment in Ann Arbor, MI. We have to have roommates because we cannot afford to live there by ourselves. This is straining on us in many ways and we would like to find somewhere to live by ourselves when the lease is up. The lease is up at the end of April. When should we start seriously looking for another place? I have found a few that we are interested in, but they will probably be gone by the time we are ready to move.

The reason it is so hard for us to find a place is, first, we don't make much money. We also have a dog, a cat, and fish. The dog is a red Doberman, he is nice, but most places who say they are pet friendly will not accept him and there is no way we are getting rid of him. I also have two ten gallon aquariums and a 42 long, which is very heavy when full. Should we focus on finding a house or condo to rent and stop wasting time on apartments? Or, should we try to do a rent to own on a house? I am just looking for some advice. Maybe there is someone else who has been in a similar situation.

  • Need help choosing a knife to carry?

I am a 5' tall woman who lives in Michigan. It is illegal here to carry a blade that is over three inches. It is also illegal to have a spring action knife. The problem is, I am terrible at getting folding knives to open up smoothly. If I am ever in a situation where I need to use a knife for protection, I am worried that I won't be able to get it open. Any suggestions?

  • Running a rescue, where to start?

I have been going back and forth with what I want to do with the rest of my life recently. The one thing that is concrete is that one day I would like to have my own animal sanctuary. I was hoping someone here could give me some advice on the subject. How does one start out? Do you need a separate job or can you run a rescue full time? Any help is greatly appreciated. I really don't know where to start. I have been studying Biology and was planning on doing something with Zoology, but now I think I want to do something more with companion animals. (Serious answers only please.)

  • Breyer model horses without boxes?

I am trying to sell some of my Breyer horses and will be buying some more. I heard that you deduct $0.50 for minor flaws (rubs) and $1.00 for major flaws (chips); correct me if I am wrong. How much would you deduct if the horse does not have its box?

  • Can someone help diagnose me?

I cannot afford to go to the doctor or miss work because my husband already had to go and we don't have insurance. They said he had pneumonia and that he can't work for a while. He has a fever and I do not. The strange thing is I feel like I have a fever. I have sensitivity to cold and get pains. Could this be sympathy pains? How can you feel like you have a fever but not actually have one? I am having a little trouble breathing but nothing too severe. I have been coughing (pretty severe) and using an inhaler that I got the last time I was sick. I also have a little bit of congestion. I am almost 21 and I am a smoker. (Yes, I know I shouldn't be smoking)

  • Help with my ears...?

I have had a cold for about a week. Yesterday, my ears plugged up and my hearing is about half of what it should be. When I blow my nose and my ears pop it hurts. I also hear a lot of background noise, like fuzziness. I am a 20 year old female. What could this be and is there anything I can do about it without going to the doctor? I don't have insurance and have no money. My mom said she would pay for me to see a doctor but I don't want to make her do that unless I absolutely have to.

  • How to dispose of a newt?

My fire-bellied newt has died. :( Since they are considered toxic how do I dispose of the body properly? I don't want to bury him because something could dig up the body and eat it. They have enough poison in them to kill an adult human. Also, I don't want to flush it and poison the water supply. Do the toxins dissipate after death? What do I do?
