Help with my ears...?
I have had a cold for about a week. Yesterday, my ears plugged up and my hearing is about half of what it should be. When I blow my nose and my ears pop it hurts. I also hear a lot of background noise, like fuzziness. I am a 20 year old female. What could this be and is there anything I can do about it without going to the doctor? I don't have insurance and have no money. My mom said she would pay for me to see a doctor but I don't want to make her do that unless I absolutely have to.

Sinus congestion affects the ears, as they are connected. You likely have fluid built up behind your ear drums, and when you sneeze, blow your nose, cough or swallow, they "pop". Don't use q-tips right now, as it isn't likely a wax buildup and sticking anything in there might rupture your eardrum. You can try a decongestant. If it doesn't help, you should see a Dr within the week. You might need an antibiotic and if it is infection, prolonging it may do permanent damage. Hope that helps!

My sis had something similar, but anyways go to a health food store and ask for ear candles. (i kno it sounds weird but they actually work... i swear, i use em) N i recommend that if u have never used them b4 get two for each ear. (there are directions that come with it)
If this doesnt work... i wld suggest goin to tha doctor.
I hope everything works out with u:)
