Is it o.k. to leave your dog alone with a bone?
I want to leave my dog at home in his crate with a bone, but is this safe? What if he breaks off little pieces? He is not usually home alone for very long, but I want him to have something to do while there is no one there.

I never leave my dog unsupervised while chewing on a bone, I either freeze peanut butter paste in a kong for her, or give her a Busy Bone (or Jumbobone...something of that nature) when she's crated. There are puzzle toys too to keep the dogs busy.

Its fine as long is it is a bone made for dogs and not a chicken bone. remember to never give your dog poultry bones because they can b dangerous for dogs. It wont break of little pieces because, well, the manufacturer had that in mind and they made sure that ur dog wont choke on its toy! :)

I would not leave him alone with a real bone or rawhide, but a toy or some other completely safe chew should be okay.

He should be fine if it is a raw bone & not a cooked one.
However Pedigree do "Jumbone" & it keeps them amused for about 4 hours & it's good for their teeth!

I think it depends on the dog. I have a Jack Russ and I have to take his bone away as soon as he thinks he can swallow it. He will choke on them.

is it a real bone? you should be able to find some good quality toys and watch him to see if he tends to chew them up or just chew on them.
