How does this quote relate to teaching?

As a teacher, be yourself, share your own experiences with the kids as it relates to the subject matter being taught.

I believe there are two facts stated in this. One is the most important and this is that all teachers have a right to freedom of speech within moral guidelines.. meaning the age of the students and what the life story will lead them to conclude. Will it lead them to yell fire where there is no fire in a school or theater, as example? Would the teachers conceptual ideas in their life story lead the students to have principles that would do them harm in their future? One has freedoms that are not given by a truly free Government! A Government cannot dictate what we may think and no laws passed will stop us from free thinking.

The second is that we are all individuals and have freedoms to make good choices and bad ones. It is not without responsibility because our mistakes do have consequences and if we are mature, we will avoid those mistakes and if we do not, will not blame others of things instead of our own selves. All laws, when subject to the people, should support good conduct and make no excuses for bad conduct. If we deny these facts then we deny their is any possible good one can do or bad that we see and have seen in this world.

Our freedoms have responsibility attached to them and no law or belief can change this. We fight when attacked; we try not to be the offensive party but the defensive one; we hold to these facts as our life shows they are true. We are responsible for what we do.

If you are not allowed to share your life's story because of anti-freedom of speech laws; your mistakes and your successes, then you have lost that precious freedom of speech that so many have fought for since time began. Your life is as baby steps and each step with another story to tell. Earl
