I have a sony camcorder that did not come with a cord to connect to computer.?

The model after did. What i am wanting to know is can i take the cord that i use to connect to my vcr and put a usb connector on it and use that to connect to my computer? Will this work ?

Update:

This is a ccd-tr416 it has digital zoom and records on a tape.

    My sony video camera connects to the computer with a firewire cable. You can buy them on ebay for cheap.

    If you call Sony they will send you a USB cable for free. If you are talking about a Fire Wire for uploading video to your computer no camcorder comes with one. You will have to buy one, I got mine from Radio Shack and it was about $30.00
