My first flight and nervous?
I will be taking my first flight to Miami on Feb 25 and I am very nervous. I keep thinking it's like a rollercoaster when landing and I am scared of rollercoasters. I decided to book a flight being that Miami is a 9 hour drive from SC and on a plane I can be there a little less than 2 hours. Major travel difference. LOL. It will be me and my fiance's first time flying. I'm just wondering how landing and take off is. As well as turbulence. I have heard that the plane can drop without notice and it's like a drop on the rollercoaster. Is this really true? OMG! Im excited and nervous at the same time.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.
Not sure if it matters, but just letting everyone know that I will be flying with Spirit Airline

major airliners are big and very safe it's not at all like a roller-coaster you can feel the acceleration while the plane baerls down the runway and after that it's pretty smooth.
you may feel turbulence the plane shakes because of wakes in the air it's normal and nothing to worry about, happens all the time and in the extremely unlikely event something goes wrong it took that pilot more than 10years half the time retired military to sit in that seat he knows what he's doing.
when the plane lands you can feel a dropping feeling sometimes but it's know big deal and if the pilot is really good you won't. it actually feels like your in a elevator when the plane descends.
when the plane lands you barely feel anything till the plane actually touches the ground you will feel a hard thud usually.

Nothing to worry about, I've flown transatlantic dozens of times as well as to the far east from Europe. Turbulence is like being in a car on a bumpy road, the odd bump and lots of noise.
Take off is a thrill with the acceleration and I enjoy watching out of the window as we leave the ground. With a good pilot landing the plane you'll just feel a slight thud.
There are lots of noises like the flaps retracting and extending but that's all it is, noise as the plane is working.
It's nothing like a roller coaster, more like a big bus! Let the cabin crew know you're both nervous flyers and they'll make sure you're ok

It's nothing like a roller coaster, and it's statistically safer than riding in a car.
There's quite a bit of noise when the engines rev up for takeoff, but that's perfectly normal. There's a loud thud when the landing gear (wheels) are tucked in and when they're taken back out for landing. Again, that's perfectly normal.
Most turbulence, if you get any at all, is a light shudder. Hitting an air pocket is even more uncommon, but it's not like a roller coaster either.
You have nothing to worry about. Enjoy your trip.

Take off is the most disturbing part for a first timer. The thrust is so great that you are pushed back into your seat. It's a little bit like what a rocket is during take off. The landings are really smooth. The pilot speeds up just a bit right before touchdown so the plane doesn't drop hard. Speeding up levels the plane off, and the landing is smooth. You'll be looking out the window and enjoying it. I have flown a handful of times and never encountered turbulence. It's like earthquakes in California — somewhat of a rare occurence.
