how can you put a price on your dog?

lol ok so i never thought i would waste my points asking a question on here but this one really really makes me laugh

i don't know how many times i have been shocked by the amount of ppl on here that need vets and ask on here instead and the amount of ppl with just absolutely no common sense but this one really tops it off for me

if your dog attacks another dog then you should only have to pay the amount the dog is worth

really?

who decides this

i wouldn't sell my rottie for any amount of millions but i'm sure to other my dog would seem worthless so who the hell is deciding the price

to think that your dog should be allowed to attack other dogs then those poor innocent ppl have to pay the bill

just wow

anyway i guess my question is what is your dog worth to you?

:)

peoples pets are priceless to them. No your dog shouldn't get away with harming someone elses pet but if he/she does then you gotta pay and that without a doubt means more than their pooch is worth monetarily. But how can you put a price on love? So someones dog chomps yours and your dog is worth say 200 bucks. The judge awards you 1000 for pain and suffering . It doesn't bring fido back but hopefully it helps the other pet owner be a little more responsible. For what?I guess to make sure they keep their dog either fenced better or leashed better. It's not exactly fair I know because its not logical that we are always going to be there when our pets do crazy things. Unfortunately the people who don't make sure their pets are under control mess it up or those of us who are.We pay for their inattention. I have cats(sorry!)and I love their furry little butts like crazy.

i have been in a situation where i had to get rid of my 1 year old female german shephard she was very sweet but my daughter who is alot more important to me was terrified of her. i wanted her to go to a good home so i put an ad up for her and put a rehoming fee of 100 because if the person couldnt pay the 100 dollar rehoming fee then they couldnt get her and not be able to afford to take care of her. i interviewed a ton of people and found one who had kids who loved big dogs and 300 acres in the country i still keep in touch with the family to see how she is doing and i can come see her whenever i want. i would never sell a dog other wise or try to put a price on a dog. i have a puppy now who is priceless she is a corgidor and my daughter loves her.

To me priceless, to sell not that I would, maybe $300 (based on things like newspaper adds)

And who ever said that is just stupid If your dog bites someone else's dog you pay the vet bills whether its a champion show dog or a free to good home little mutt.

I bought mine for $200 (the Greyhound) and $900 (Labrador) but wouldn't sell them for anything anyone offered me. I paid good money to the doctors/hospitals to have my kids too - and no matter what they do I wouldn't sell them either..... How do you put a value on a member of the family?

And does the "value" of a dog add up and count all the food/vet bills etc you spend on them - I'd be rich if I didn't have kids and dogs!

Nobody could ever pay me enough for any of my dogs, but if some idiot's dog attacks one of mine, and I spend $5000 at the vet fixing them, that idiot's gonna pay the $5000 back to me, because my dogs are in my fenced in yard. I already spent $3000 of my own money caring for a dog with pyometra, these are my babies, no slackjaw neighbor is going to force me to give my dogs any less care than I currently provide.

I agree, people who worry about the cost shouldn't have pets. I am certainly not wealthy but would have paid any price to keep my pets alive when I had them.

I was also amazed when I was relocating to Australia at how many people asked "what are you going to do with your cat and dog?"

Of course they came with me, the same as my wife and daughter.

My dog is priceless. I wouldn't sell it if I had been offered a few million, even a few billion. It's like family to me, and I don't bargain off my family for riches!

My dog cost me £75 from the Blue Cross Re-Homing Centre as he was found as a stray..i fell in love with him as soon as i saw him..

i would take out a loan if i had to, to pay for ANYTHING that was wrong with him. he is my baby

it's hard to put a price on your dog. they become a part of your family, so, how can you put a price on an integral part of your family? that is why in a situation where one dog bites someone else's dog the monetary value varies quite a bit.

my dog would cost me my life if it came to it. seriously...i would jump infront of a car to push him out of the way if i had to....just like i would with any person that i loved or cared about! even though, to others, he is worthless! :)
