Why "The Big Hurt" for Frank Thomas ?

Frank Thomas officially announced his retirement on February 11, 2010.

I heard Chi-Sox broadcaster Ken Harrelson coined the nickname "The Big Hurt" for Frank Thomas in the 1992 season.

How come he name "The Big Hurt" for Frank Thomas ?

Thank you ^ ^ /

Because of the Big Hurt he put on opposing teams. Ken Harrelson is the only announcer other than Joe Morgan that makes me use the mute button.

The reason was because he put a "big hurt" on the baseball when he crushed it.
