Will Science have to re-write their thinking on the Near Death Experience?

The case by Dr. Michael Sabom about Pam Reynolds , underwent the most radical surgery known to man.

It was a remarkable case because Pam's near-death episode occurred after she had been placed in what they call a "standstill" state -- clinically dead.

In order to operate on a large aneurism in a brain artery, neurosurgeons put her under anesthesia, stopped her heart and breathing, lowered her body temperature to a frigid sixty degrees, and as her brain waves flattened, allowed blood to completely drain from her head.

For all practical purposes, she was deceased -- under what is also known as hypothermic cardiac arrest, which was pioneered at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.

She was "dead" -- according to extensive monitoring (they planned to revive her after removing the aneurism) -- and yet Pam did not lose consciousness, instead describing at great length how she felt her spirit pulled out of the top of the head during the procedure and then "watched" from above as surgeons and a slew of technicians

Update:

This is a documented case by respected nuero physicians and a woman who had no brain activity and eyes who were unable to see anything.

This type of thing has happened, and I hope the scientists will rewrite some things for sure!!!

    No.

    Read the time line here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pam_Reynolds_(singer)

The time that she had recollection she was not 'dead'. She could have seen instruments as she was brought in. When comments were made her brain was functioning and could have interpreted the things that it heard under anesthetic.

The rest of it sounds like the typical reaction to brain hypoxia.

I believe there is a NDE study that is ongoing where electronic signs have been placed in ORs where they are only visible from above. The people in the OR do not know what the signs say. To date no one has told the researchers what the signs say.

Until someone does I am confident that no one leaves their brain.

P.S. My definition of dead is a state from which you do not recover. This woman was never actually dead.

Yeah, right. So, did she actually see anything that really happened, or did she just imagine what it would look like to be looking down on a surgery, possibly based on numerous movies and TV shows?

They should put a big card with a number or letter on it, on the floor of operating rooms. See if the people making claims like this actually know what that symbol was.

    No.

And she was not "dead" -- nobody comes back from "dead." We've known for hundreds of years that with a greatly lowered body temperature, brain cells can survive (which means continue living, just at a slower metabolic rate) longer than they can at higher temperatures.

That's science, not magical sky fairies.

    Peace.

Not anytime soon. Science is in a state of denial. I read Howard Storms NDE sometime ago on the internet and knew it was truthful because he had many experiences that I have had with God.

I have not had a NDE. But now I believe that at least some of them actually happened.

Science, (and any other healthy thought system) reforms what it believes to be true, as we learn more of the Truth.

    Peace and Namaste!

Scientists are always rewriting their thinking on many things. I suspect many will one day realize how wrong they were on a number of things. It's part of the learning process. Reality is not always scientifically observable.

If Jesus Christ can raise Lazarus from death after four days. The dead body was stinking. Jesus Christ is Lord of all creations, he can do anything anywhere. Amen (Now try to figure it out) God created everything out of nothing.
