From research and personal experience straightening your hair damages and weakens your hair more than people think, especially if this is a daily thing.
Although help is at hand, there are MANY protecting products on the market and i personally use Lee Stafford poker straight hair spray fro boots, normally £5.99 which seems to work on my hair but to get the one that works for you (suits your hair) you'll need to browse the shops. Usually if you ask in a boots store, they can be rather helpful.
For good Straighteners that keep your hair nice and straight whatever the weather you may find you have to spend a good amount of money. Although Straighteners are so popular now a lot of brands are doing cheaper products. I brought my first pair of Straighteners from TESCO and they cost around a tenner (i think :S) they were just the TESCO basic brand and they seemed to work for me as i had never straightened my hair before. To get a bit better result you may have to splash out a bit more, argos sell known-branded ones and they usually have some good offers on them (e.g at the minute they have some Remmington brand ones half price for only £14.62.

I have a Remington hair straightners and they are pretty good.. the price varies but I got mine for £20. If you can save up for a pair of GHDs...they are great. Dont get hairspray for straightning it will make ur hair all sticky and when u straighten ur hair it should stay but stay away from rain and water. But you might want to buy some heat protect spray as it does cause hair damage. so try not to use it that often! :)

Straightening does cause hair damage but it all depends how much you use them. If you use hair protecting creams etc they will reduce the damage. But nothing totally stops it.
I only my hair about once a month not even that but i can get away with it because my hairs wavy/curly like yours :).
But i dont think you can get any good hair straighteners for that amount of money....
Ghds are really good but they cost near £100 but thats what i use but im sure you will be able to find a pair if you research well

ook, first, 15 dollars is not enough to buy a good quality straightener. But conair has cheap straighteners. They work OK, depending on how easy your hair straightens. I would recommend buying some kiind of heat protectant spray once you start to straighten your hair. This will prevent it from becoming damaged, dry, and brittle. I personally use tresemme heat tamer spray, which is cheap yet very effective. It smells pretty good too :). Hope i helped!
P.S. yes, hair straightening damages hair, hence the protectant spray! :) it works! good luck!

It isn't within your budgets, but GHDs are good and you could get them for a birthday or christmas. I've had my pair of GHDs for 2 years now, and they haven't broken at all and are still as effective as when I first bought them. GHD's are known to be the best straighteners.
Straightening also does cause damage to your hair, as they are burning hot, but you can buy heat defence spray, and spray it on your hair before straightening for protection. This can be bought in a local pharmacist or cosmestic store.

hi cheeky, if i was you i would save up a bit more as the price you can afford at the moment wont buy you ones that are any good trust me on this i had loads that were useless before i gave in and bought ghd ones which are super and if you have curly hair you really need qaulity ones the others dont work as they dont heat up enough and you should buy a product to put on your hair first so it doesnt dry out you can get lots of kinds in any supermarket. good luck.

My hair is extremely curly and a soreness to straighten. i offered the croc 2 infrared flat iron and this is astounding. It has shrink down the time it takes to straighten in a million/2 and it makes my hair plenty shinier than different irons.

I use the sleek Pro Radience BaByliss ones. You can change it to different settings to whatever your hair type is. But I'd read the instructions first! But they're quite hot, so it does keep your hair straight all day. And I use Tresemme heat defence, just to keep the split ends away! The straighteners are quite expensive, but when buying straighteners, you need to pay a good price.

remmington! ... I bought some great ones which have a digital screen on them for under £20. And they go just as hot as GHD's. 230 degrees. They are fab. And you can straighten and curl your hair with them. Really good quality and they even came with an accessory kit with a brush, comb and clips. One of argos' great deals! .... Try www.argos.co.uk... or ebay perhaps. (But if your buying them from an auction site make sure their brand new and sealed, ideally from a business/powerseller)!

straightening hair always causes damage....any straightners abouve 210 degrees should do it and buy some ghd heat defence spray.....argos.com do loads of straightners in that price range
i straighten my hair every day and the damage is nothing noticable
i use GHD'S
