Question about idiot light for brakes?

A Ford Taurus, interior warning light for brakes comes on ONLY when the driver is making a right hand turn. Never any other time. What causes this? The warning light goes off immediately after the turn is finished.

I'd have to say that the sensor for low brake fluid is causing the light to go on. As you take the turn the fluid shifts to one side therefore triggering the light. Check your brake fluid and fill to the full line, but don't overfill because that too can cause problems as well as a mess. good luck and hope this helps.

Well in a right turn, most of the cars weight is loaded on the left wheels. Get them checked and make sure they replace both sides of whatever's not working because if they don't it'll seem like you have a dis-alignment when you brake. You wont but one side slows down faster than the other and results in an action of the car inching towards the same side as the better braking.

You know, I actually had the same exact problem on my Taurus SHO and what it was so was simple you'd want to slap yourself. I had a burned out stop light bulb once, then it was a burned out filament in the turning bulb. Both times I replaced it and that stupid light on the inside dash stopped coming on. Turn on your car and have someone sit in it, press the brake and take note if they all come on properly. Do the same for your turning signals but for both the back and the front. I'm pretty sure once you find out which bulb is out and replace it, it'll stop doing that. =)

If that doesn't work then the problem would be loose wiring and nothing majorly wrong with the car. That's from having one for a good part of ten years. Have the wiring checked. Either way it's an easy fix. Good Luck!!

several Ford products have a brake fluid sensor located in the brake fluid resivor, check to see that the resivor is full up to the "full line" if the fluid is low it will "slosh" to one side on turns and the sensor will turn the light on

Sorry, all my cars are Japanese made (Toyota & Honda Co). Beside I am not good in cars. But I will suggest if you can forward for those two brothers on public radio (I think they have their show on Saturdays). I forget their name, they will answer your question with their sense of humor and joke. Call them. It is live show. Good luck.
