Apartment problem! will not give us the deposit money back?
So me and my roommate signed the lease for an apartment June, 2009 and paid their deposits $150 each, lease starting from August 31st, 2009. So we arrived in the morning August 31st, 2009 to get the keys for the apartment but they told us that their has been a mistake, that is, they double leased the apartment and did not have any other to lease us.
Long story short, we did not get the apartment and since then, they haven't given us our deposit money back. And when I go ask the manager about it, she acts like a ***** and does nothing.
So can anyone here give me any info on how to deal with them?

You'll have to sue them for it. It wasn't your fault you couldn't take the apartment, so they can't keep it. That's the only way you'll get the money back.
EDIT: I know that in some states, when you rent an apartment and the landlord doesn't send you a letter stating why they are keeping your deposit within 30 days of moving out, you can get up to triple the amount, so look into that. Not sure if that goes for them keeping it when you didn't live there, but it's worth a try!

Since u didn't get the apartment, they need to give u your deposit back. You can sue them in small claims court.
You should go to your courthouse, inform them the landlord won't give your deposit back and inquire about a "summons and complaint" form.
Once the proper papers have been served to the landlord, it might scare them into just giving you the deposit and the case being dismissed.

Write a certified letter/return reciept, demanding full payment upon reciept,noting that anything after 20 days of recieving the letter that compound interest will accure at, what ever % you think your money is worth.
If they ignore you your next step is Small Claims Court.
