Aren't you tired of this crap yet?

Consider this an excellent time to recognize that your operating system is defective. I recommend replacing it with one of:

    http://fedora.redhat.com/

    http://www.centos.org/

    http://www.opensuse.org/

    http://www.debian.org/

    http://www.ubuntu.org/

    http://www.slackware.org/

    http://www.mintlinux.com/

    http://www.freebsd.org/

    http://www.opensolaris.org/

Any of these will be more reliable, less susceptible to viri, uses your hardware more efficiently, and they're all free.

Personally, if I had some money, I'd actually buy a Mac. The total cost of ownership is less than that of Windows, (initially it costs more, but reliability, security and viri issues inevitably make Windows cost more). The level of frustration is always lower than with Windows.

If you must run a Windows app, then you install Vmware or any of the other PC emulators and run Windows in a virtual machine (this can be done on most of the above OSs and certainly on the Macs). You ONLY run that app on that virtual machine. You browse and do everything network related on the host Mac to keep secure and virus free.

Its true, I spend more time on Windows than Macs but that's simply because my job is to fix computer problems, and, frankly, that difference in cost of ownership PAYS MY SALARY. Perhaps I should be advertising Windows just to keep myself in business.

I suggest the various free-wares because, well, they're free and although they are harder to learn than the Mac, they certainly are more reliable than Windows.

Source(s): 30+ years of network administration on Windows, Macs, Linux and lots of other operating systems you don't care about.

As rated by PC World, Avira Antivir is the best and free way to get rid of the virus and protect from other viruses. Search it up on Google.

Avira offers extremely good detection rates and ensures that your computer is safely protected. However, you might need to put up with pop-ups.

Use combofix from bleepingcomputer.com, then download malwarbytes(you may need to rename the installer/setup to something like winlogon.exe to be able to run or install it) from malwarebytes.com or softpedia.com, then clean the rest of the virus with superantispyware and Hitman Pro 3.5 from softpedia.com/cnet.com and just in case you do have a rootkit on your system use GMER from majorgeek.com(Use gmer to scan and anything in red delete.)

Future Protection use this wizard to recommend security protection for your system:

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/secwiz

or go to safe mode and then do the above:

To get into Safe Mode with Networking:

    1. Log out and reboot your machine.

    2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.

    3. Select Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu.

An easier and less complicated program is the AVG. You can go to www.avg.com. There you can download a free version. It can delete all of the viruses. It is better than the Norton360 that I was buying. Good luck to you.
