Who would you want on your team?
Let's say you are a manager and you could sign any hitter to a 6 year deal and any pitcher to a 5 year deal. Who would they be and why?

With the hitter, that's easy: Albert Pujols. Numbers and consistency don't lie. Not just that, but he is one heck of a teammate. Look at the difference in Yadi Molina's hitting since Pujols helped him.
For the pitching, I would probably pick Lincecum. He's won two straight cy-young awards and contineus to improve. Imagine how many wins he would have if he played on a team that could hit a baseball, lol. It was hard to pick him over great pitchers like CC Sabathia, Roy Halliday, Johann Santana, etc. but if I want someone for 5 years, I'll go with Lincecum.

1B- Albert Pujols, one of the greatest hitters of all time and one of the best fielding first baseman in the league
2B- Robinson Cano, he led the league in total bases for most of the season until the yankees started resting him, only 3 errors and until he was rested he played every game of the season.
SS- Derek Jeter, A great hitter the all time yankee hit leader, and despite what some people have been saying recently still a great fielder.
3B- Alex Rodriguez, Also one of the greatest hitters of all time (steroids or not), and a golden glove caliber fielder.
C- Joe Mauer, Possibly the greatest hitting catcher of all time 2 time batting champion.
OF- Ichiro, Had he not played the first 9 seasons of his career in Japan he would easily be the all time hit leader by the time he retires. Matt Kemp, he had a huge season last year. Ryan Braun, the first rookie to win a slugging title since Mark McGuire.
P- Tim Lincecum, 2 time Cy Young winner in his 3rd season he may soon be one of the greatest pitchers ever,

I think I would have to go Tim Lincecum for my pitcher that guy is crazy good and he is young so he may actually make it through 5 years unlike some other answers and for hitter its a lot more difficult I would go with Ryan Braun as much as it pains me as a Cubs fan but again Albert won't last 6 more years and Braun has good average and power

For a hitter I'd go with Hanley Ramirez. Locks up a tough position with a 5 tool player during his prime years from age 26 to 31.
My pitcher would be Felix Hernandez. His numbers last year at age 23 were much better than the other top pitchers (Halladay, Lincecum, Greinke, Sabathia, etc) when they were 23. The sky's the limit for him. He's so good he even hit a grand slam off Johan Santana. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN200...

There's no doubt I would lock up back to back Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum.
Most will say Pujols who is 30 and would end up 36 making a ton. I would lock up Prince Fielder who's much younger at 26 and has been just as productive as Pujols over the past 3 years. His contract also would not be as as much as Pujols's.
Past 3 years:
Fielder - 130 hr's
Pujols - 116 hr's
Fielder - 362 rbi's
Pujols - 354 rbi's
Pujols - .337
Fielder - .287

My favorite team is the Yankees
hitter: Vlad Guerrero : Yankees need someone better in the outfield. Plus, he's a great HR hitter.
pitcher: Roy Halladay: He's the best pitcher in the MLB

I would tke Davaid Wright, stwals and Homers are good with me puls good D.
For a pitcher i would take C.C. Sabathia. Lefty Fireballer that can win 18 -20 games is amazing
