When is the first day (in which they shut off analog tv) that Comcast makes you use that digital top box?

Update:

For the Comcast cable company, they didn't force you to get one yet. They are supposed to do it pretty soon, but I'm just looking for a date.

My cable tv is still working without the free top box, but they are going to require it now. I do understand that last year the "regular tv" signal had to be changed to digital on June 12.

Sean B, you were a bit cocky with your answer.

I was wondering the same thing because I didn't know. Comcast cut my cable in mid show (golden girls) tuesday and now I have to wait a week to receive my boxes.

You are a bit late to be asking about this...the digital transition happened last June 12th. If you had been paying attention, you need a set-top box (the digital converter), cable or satellite TV service to keep older TVs working.

And it ain't Comcast's doing...the analog TV shut off had been on the books since the Clinton days and, after a couple of delays, went down last summer. TV stations, under law have to broadcast in digital full time and had until last summer to swtch over (low power UHF stations have another two years to convert to digital).

All this was done last year, it started in June 2009 and the final switch was done late last year.
