Odd problem with Canon 1Ds mk2?

Hi all. My 1Ds, when switched on, sometimes just remains dead. If you play with the shutter button, it sometimes springs into life, other times remains off. Other times, you can switch it on and everything behaves normally. I bought it s/hand from a so-called pro photographer called John Owen and I'm sure he sold it with this fault knowingly but, alas, I can't prove it! Any ideas? Thanks.

How long ago did you buy it, and how much did you pay?

Are the battery terminals clean? and is the battery fully charged? If the battery is quite old, you may need to purchase a new battery. Did the instruction manual come with the camera? Check in the troubleshooting section - there may be some advice.

Worst case, give him a call and "ask for some advice" perhaps he was aware of the problem and forgot to mention how to fix it? Or maybe he will have enough experience with the camera to point you in the right direction.

    Hope you sort it out!
