How long does a yellow top optima battery last?
Reason being i have a high power audio sytem with a 2.0 farad compacitor and my head lights and gauges are still dimming. Cant figure out why

Not long Optima batteries have proven to be the biggest POS batteries ever sold. They are better known for only rarely lasting more than 1 yr.

Not true. I've got a 2004 Pontiac gto with a yellow top optima that was installed in 2008 . You do the math. It has survived some brutal Alabama and Florida summer heat 98 degrees plus days. I would highly recommend this battery to any one. Very tough very reliable.

I bought a yellow top in February 2010, I just charged it and it charged to 13.0 volts. According to Optima a fully charged yellow top should get 13.0 - 13.2 V. So I am happy. Especially since from Feb to July 2010 I was living in Palm Springs where it was well over 100 Degrees. At least in June and July. It is pretty warm in March though I tell ya. Also since August 2010 I have been taking short trips to the gym. 2 mile trips each way. Work is 10 miles each way. So I am happy with it.

Stick with a Duralast or a Walmart battery, the one I got at walmart was $60 bucks and lasted 8 years

about as long as a cheaper walmart battery(1/3 of the price). they typically last up to 6 years some do last longer. If you want a decent priced and overly powerful battery go for bluetop marine.
