DVR recording and monthly fees?
Does anyone have a DVR that they own and they record directly from cable without paying a monthly DVR fee to tivo or the cable company?
I am happy to pay the monthly cable fee, I just don't know if I can record on a DVR that I own without paying an additional fee.

You can use an owned DVR without an additional charge over the monthly dvr service fee. They don't penalize you for owning the equipment, though the DVR monthly fee wil have to be paid.

You can purchase a dvd recorder but the dvr's usually come with a rental fee and that's better than buying a tivo and having to pay to use tivo.
