Is it illegal for me to post copyrighted music on my website?

I am a professional photographer about to create his own website. I would like to have a slideshow gallery that depicted my work with music that I have purchased. If I give full credit to the original artist, would I be in violation of copyright infringement?

You can't. When you buy a CD is for "private personal use" NOT for "public performance." So it's illegal even if you give credit.

For public performance you need to pay for a license (royalties) or get the authorization from the copyright owner.

Alternatively there are many websites that give free royalty-free music; also you can buy royalty-free music for your projects.

Look into PPA, they offer licensing for music for your photo website.

  • You need to get the ok from the ( copy right owner).
