    4x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2 is a perfect square trinomial.

    (2x + 3y)^2 = 4x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2

    The answer you offer is not correct !

    k basically notice that its a perfect square (a^2 +2ab + b^2)

    a^2 = 4x^2

    a = root(4x^2)

    a=2x

    b^2 = 9y^2

    b = root(9y^2)

    b=3y

    so to factor it, it would be (a+b)^2

    so (2x+3y)^2

    not 4 + xy but 4xy. You had a typo.

    (2x + 3y)^2

    square it, you get the original equation.
