Cleaning Converse Shoes? Help!?

Hi, recently found my red converses from waaaay back. The material is a bit dusty and it seems that at some point, my sister has drawn lines around the whole shoe on the white, plastic part. What is the best way to clean both parts? And is there anyway to actually get all of the marker/pen off? It is just a ball point pen btw.

help?

Hairspray will take the ink off. Spray some on a rag and wipe it off.

If the shoes are just dusty and not dirty, vacuum the dust off. The ink can probably be removed with a little methylated spirit - test a bit first to make sure it doesn't affect the surface. If they are dirty, you can wash them, fast cycle, in the washing machine.
