CPU fan works, but doesn't run?
I've recently been doing some diagnostic work on my Vaio VGC-LS1

and the only real problem I have found so far is a CPU fan that does not appear to work.
I have SpeedFan 4.40 installed, which displays physical system stats and shows observed operating temperatures from various thermal sensors.
My dilemma is that the CPU fan, which first appeared to be dead, actually works when manually powered but will not operate when plugged into the fan socket. I purposely (and carefully) drove the core temps to see if the fan would be signaled on, but it was not. What should I be looking for now?

As long as the computer boots properly and functions I would just test it with a 80mm remote fan ; and see if there is a place to mount it to be productive in cooling your processor.
