What idiot invented the QWERTY keyboard?
Why are the punctuation marks all over the dang keyboard? Parentheses up with the numbers, punctuation marks sort of lower right (except parentheses), question mark ABOVE the forward slash??? Gimme a break!
The 101 key keyboard sucks! We need a better keyboard, one that makes sense!

As i recall, the historical invention and design of keyboard started during world war on mechanical typing machine. It's designed to suit with the English language convenience.
Try google it or wikipedia to learn more its invention history

I agree totally I cant imagine why anyone in the world would try to mobilize the keyboard! its very cluttered and definitely needs to be resolved i found a really cool article on the same topic awhile back

The layout was designed so that successive keystrokes would alternate sides of the keyboard so as to avoid jams in manual typewriters.

Christopher Sholes invented it so that the most common letters weren't so close. This was back when people used typewriters so sometimes the type bars would jam. This arrangement of the letters prevented that. It just stuck.

You can change your keyboard layout without replacing the physical hardware. I use Dvorak -- you get much higher throughput with typing this way also.
