What is a tall but fairly cheap tall grass?
I'm trying to plan out the gardening around my new home and I know I want ornamental grasses to do xeroscaping (sp?) and I have a list of some I'd like to have and their basic sizes but I have no idea the cost. Some I know are going to be pricey like the Japanese Blood Grass.
I have a length of fence I'd like to put tall grass (or a tall plant, not clinging) in front of but its about 30 feet and I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on it.
I live in Calgary in Zone 3. According to www.hgtv.ca my gardening considerations are average frost free between May 28 and September 18.
If you know of a tall grass that's not to outrageously priced or another tall plant that will live in this zone without a full time watering that is fairly inexpensive I'd love to know.

bamboo species you can plant in just one tiny little spot, and it'll spread and spread and spread, and you'll never be rid of it. Cheaper than dirt! and damn tall to boot!
