Can I study medicine with a tattoo?

If I have a small tattoo, will it be deemed inappropriate for somebody studied Medicine/ becoming a doctor? Cause I've heard they can be very strict on appearances, because of patient contact. Thanks

Update:

I don't have a tattoo at the moment, I was contemplating getting one. Looks like I probably won't if it's seen as poor judgement / untrustworthy.

A tattoo is evidence of poor judgment, and is upsetting to many patients. If it is visible, you may not even get admitted into Medical School. Get rid of the tattoo.

I know several people who have been accepted to and graduated from med school with tattoos. The only way I could see it being an issue is if it's somewhere obvious and/or it's a disturbing image. If you can't see it while wearing a buttoned up long sleeve shirt and long pants, you're fine.

Sure, as long as you have it covered up and no one will notice it. I hope your tatto isn't huge or somewhere on your body that can't be covered. Yes, if patients see it they will not like it and wouldn't trust you as a doctor, so the best thing is to cover it up and later on in life...if you want...you can remove it.

No you cannot, you're SOL buddy, maybe you should become a dancer instead.
