why is making all adjustment before turning the sawing machine on in Tech Ed class ?

and also why do we need to keep vices closed when not in use and handles in a vertical position? please help if you know the answer !

    As with any Machine you don't want to get hung up in it in any way, ie: lose Clothing get caught while operating the machine, just think of the Saw running while you are leaning into it trying to adjust it, accidentally triggering the saw blade, ugh, not pleasant right?

    As for the Vice, same Principal applies, if the handle is horizontal someones clothing can get caught on the handle. the Vice should be in the closed position for the same reason, and for safety reasons of not getting anything hung up in it.

    As with all tools and Equipment, Safety is the main concern, fingers do not grow back :-)
