Were you surprised that Canada lost last night?
I was not! They have been spouting off but in reality, all the "stars" of the team have been doing poorly in regular NHL play. Iginla? He shouldn't have even been called. He's done nothing for Calgary lately. Crosby is not the greatest! He won't win the medal single handedly. If they had actually picked guys that can score we would have a chance. NO one loves this country more than I do, but its a shame our hockey team is going to blow it!

So they lost while Brodeur was hot dogging all night. However, it ain't over till it's over. If they win fine, if not and they gave it their best shot, I'll be happy with what our boys do even if they finish 10th. Go Canada GO!

It sure looked like a Russia-Canada final in the Olympics. The rounds aren't, however, over yet. I'm sure yesterday's game was a wake up call to the Canadian team with Vancouver street shouts of "don't embarrass us."

Surprised, yes
Last night, I thought Canada outplayed the US with one BIG exception. The miller goal play for the US was beyond outstanding. And, despite the fact that Brodeur is one of the best goalies ever to play the game, he has NOT been playing well.
And, just like baseball where a pitcher can take control of a game, in Hockey a hot goalie can take a lesser team to victory.

I was surprised, because Team Canada is loaded with individual talent. But they just don't have the team chemistry that the USA seems to have. It was kind of like the Giants beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl, when one team got too cocky while the underdog scrapped and fought and did whatever it took to win.
That said, Canada still played a better game in most aspects. This almost completely came down to goaltending -- an inhuman performance by Ryan Miller, and a very mediocre performance by Brodeur.

Anything can happen in sports.
Analysts and prognosticators make their predictions, fans get on board, and then the unexpected happens.
A good rule of thumb is to never underestimate anyone, and never count anyone out.

Ya they made some bad choices on the team. They also were not cohesive as a team. Also they were using the same bs tactics that Toronto uses every year to lose the Stanley cup.
From what I've seen, it looks like Russia is the team to bet on for gold this year.

Not after they couldn't beat Switzerland in regulation. Not considering how the NHL doesn't care about the Olympics, and plans to drop out after this tournament. The NHL has always had the attitude that they're the best and they don't have to prove it. But most of the time when they try to prove it they lose. If it weren't for the money from the USA expansion teams, the NHL would have already fallen second to the KHL. Many of their current stars would play in their Eurasian leagues if it weren't for the extra money.
