where too invest rs 20000??mutual fund?

Mutual funds is a good choice..however there are a lot of factors as to how to invest in one ..like returns, no of years, risk investment etc... I don't have much idea in this area..but I am really interested in all these..debt investment/instrument is also a good choice..And there are some Systematic investment plans which help keep track of your money..so all in all i would prefer mutual funds..

If have not done your tax saving investment so far, I would suggest you to go for ELSS. If you do not need to invest in tax saving scheme it is better to go for a SIP. That might not give you exceptional return but will keep your investment relatively safe.

If you are a risk taking type go can go for a high risk mutual fund that invests in mid-caps.

If you are ready to loose some money in return of the knowledge take a dmat account and invest in shares.

By the basic definition of Mutual Fund they can never give return of 60% in a year ,investor need to be patient in that case. To earn 60 % invest in stock market directly.
