Anyone bother watching Finland fall apart last night?
I heard many people saying Finland had a chance to win it all before last night. While I thought the Swedes would win, who would have thought Finland would forget to show up? Did the mass media have Finland that overrated?
oh i agree fully, they need Backstrom to steal games, something Kipper hasnt done in years, but for some reason they went Kipper. I also am refering to several references that Finland was actaully rated higher then Sweden, something I found laughable before last night, and completely asinine after.

Yeah, I was anticipating that the game would be much closer. Lundqvist played well, but really didn't have to do much for the shutout. The Finns were sleep-walking. It seemed like Ruutu was the only guy out there who had his head in the game. It was just one of those games for Finland. I expect them to bounce back and get back to being competitive.

That was horrible. Almost back to back 5 on 3 advantages and they couldn't score. I don't think Finland is overrated because they were never rated that high. Going into the games Canada, Russia, and Sweden were considered the elite teams. Sweden is the only one playing up to expectations. They were a lot more physical than Finland last night and stifled their offense. Finland still makes it into the quarter finals so they will still get their chances. In my opinion they should have went with Backstrom last night.

I shouldn't answer this... Since I don't believe in "Sweden" and answering it is almost like acknowledging it exists... But here I go.
I was too tired to stay up for the game. I know, shame on me for cheering for Finland and not staying up for a game versus a rival. I liked how Finland looked against Belarus. But Belarus isn't... Scandinavia, right? What was the mass media saying? I thought Finland looked alright defensively and displayed some grit. I have no idea what Scandinavia did to win. It was probably just the great Team USA playing again. (That's how jazzed up they were about beating Canada; they had enough energy to play a second game.)

I watched but only because my boy Henrik Lundqvist was in goal for Sweeden. But I wouldn't be so quick to count out the Fins. I think Sweeden is just really good, and Finland can certainly still earn a spot in a medal game.

I think Finland still does have a chance to win it all......as does Canada, Russia, Sweden, Czech, Slovaks and the USA.
Interesting note- IF Canada had beaten the Swiss in regulation, they would have faced Latvia....then Finland. That would have been an easier road!

I watched it and Sweden was favored, and in the end they proved to be better. Sweden is a very sound team...I expect them to challenge for it all, certainly a medal is possible. Finland does not have the depth, so I would not say they "fell apart".

Finland had a game last night? lol...only kidding. They did not televise it down here. Maybe they thought one game was enough for us Southerners.
I never thought Finland had a chance. To answer your last question....yes.
