To those who regard themselves as atheists: what is your concept of life?

I just want to know what is your view of life such as its value, aim, hope and meaning. Thank you.

    Life is to be lived

Its value is immense as it's the only one I'll ever have

Its aim is whatever I choose to make it

Hope is to be happy and leave the world just a little better than I found it

Its meaning is whatever meaning I want to give it

(Aside from all the biological stuff, naturally)

How could anyone think otherwise? You only think god gives your life meaning because that's what you've chosen/been told to believe.

Life has a great value since it is the only one you get (no afterlife).

The aim is to survive as long as possible and be happy.

Hope is a waste of time. Setting goals and making plans and then following up on them is more realistic.

Meaning is what you want it to mean. If you want to have a family do that, if you want to travel and explore the world then do that. If you want to spend your life being altruistic and helping others then that is your personal meaning. It can change over the course of a persons lifetime. What is important to you when you are a teenager or in your twenties might not be a priority when you are in your thirties or forties.

The famous philosopher Schopenhauer said it best - "Life without pain has no meaning" Based upon that, I wish to give your lives meaning MWUHAHAHA!!!

(Sorry, I've been wanting to do that for a while now)

Seriously though, Why does there need to be a big concept? a big deal? look around that the other animals of the world... You see how happy and carefree they are? That's partially because they don't muddy their thinking with the afterlife, they enjoy the life they have. And that's my concept of life... enjoy what we have while we have it. Life is Chaotic and in flux, and will not last. Once this is accepted, then we can enjoy life to the fullest. That's all we should be concerned with.

If there is a god, then it doesn't want us wasting our lives venerating it while we should be exploring this world and everything and everyone in it while we still can!

I'm not so much an atheist as a agnostic. But my plan is to enjoy my life and help others enjoy theirs and then maybe carry on another kind of life when I die? But I don't think that any of the worlds religions hold the true answers. I don't think we really know anything about the afterlife. But I'd hate to think that we just ceased to exist once we die.

I don't believe there is a purpose or aim to our lives just as there isn't to any other life (any animal, plant or bacteria). You are here because (and only because) all your ancestors bred successfully. While here, I would hope that you try to do good acts (things that make the lives of others better) and avoid bad acts (things that make the lives of others worse). Try to increase happiness and decrease suffering. It's really not that complicated.

God has loved us and created us and wanted to let us live with Him in Heaven. the purpose that you are born shows that you are loved by God and the aim of your life is that only by Believing in Christ Jesus you shall be saved and if God lets you to live, then you are to witness how much Jesus has done for you to others. the hope of your life would be that you should do what is pleasing to God and do something good in His sight, when you are here on earth.. then when you are dead and on the Judgement Day, you shall be rewarded for what you have done here on earth. and you shall hear Him say to you "Well done! faithful servant. enter into the joy of the Lord."

this is the full meaning of life.

I'm not an atheist, but I have atheist friends, and trust me, some of them value and appreciate life better than most Christians I know.

Life is as valuable or as worthless as the individual makes it. For me, value in life is found in the kind of people you leave behind and the influences you have on others.

Life is any self-replicating pattern. It has no value, aim, hope or meaning other than what it gives to itself or others give to it.
