Depends on the paint your are going to use. Some dry very fast and when you spend a bit more you can even have odor reduced or even odor free paint. I suggest, just go ahead but don't use paint that can easily be resolved in water.

Outside? No,, inside, its up to you, it will take a lot longer to dry and smell bad, but its not a big deal
