Why did Alec baldwin not continue with the Jack Ryan role begun in Hunt For Red October?

They couldn't find a trailer big enough to fit Baldwin's ego.

Harrison Ford was always the actor that they wanted to play Jack Ryan in the films He was offered the role for this movie, but turned it down. So Alec Baldwin got it. So when the next film was set to shoot they went back to Ford to play the character of Ryan and he accepted the role.

tom clancy wanted baldwin to continue with the role as he thought he was the right age and that ford was too old,but ford got bigger box office clout plus the studio wanted him and i think that baldwin asked for more money than they thought he was worth,if you gonna spend more money on actor get a bigger star.
