I want to make sure it is.
Also, x^2+8y=0 is similar to the problem above.
Are they both considered parabolas?

by looking at the both and seein that they are square they both are parabolas.
Remenber if is it square (^2) it is going to always be a parabola.

The first one is a square root graph, it looks like a parabola turned clockwise and only using the top half
