I don't even know what you're asking or suggesting. Surely you don't mean that there should be some kind of moral equivalency between the Taliban and the NATO armies?

So what, you're saying we should be like the Taliban? Yes, we apologize when we accidentally kill the wrong people. Don't you think that's the least we could do?

If we were at war against Afghanistan, it would be understandable that there would sometimes be civilian casualties. It happens. Problem is, we are not at war with Afghanistan. We are at war with the Taliban. When we accidentally kill Afghani civilians, it makes it appear that we are attacking the Afghani people instead of only targeting the Taliban. This is just bad PR.

The British lost the Revolutionary War because they invaded OUR territory -- or at least what we had claimed as our territory. Keep in mind that we are fighting a war in somebody else's country, and the Afghans are supposed to be our allies. You don't win wars by accidentally killing your allies.

The "right" shall and should always be on the side of those defending.

I have served in the British Armed Forces and believe we (our soldiers) are amongst the best and most moral in the World.

The problem lies, as it always has done, with Government, and the decisions "they" make as to who and where we fight.

Let me put it this way.

Germany under the Nazis "invaded" other countries (and they actually did justify this to their own people, rightly or wrongly, but they did) and we "rightly" saw this as being wrong,..."they were the aggressors" and so, "we" decided to fight them and "defend" ourselves and others from their aggression....yes?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand this.

Now,...what we have now is that "we" are the ones doing the invading, and yes, our Governments are "justifying" in the very same way as the Nazis did.

Like I said at the beginning, the "right" should always be on the side of those doing the defending.

Would you defend your country if, for arguements sake, The Afghan Government (or any other Government for that matter) accused your country of being terrorists, and INVADED your country?

    Honestly, would you?

    I WOULD!
