I wonder if the plot is interesting? - story assignment?

We were asked to make a story, here's a short description of mine:

After more than 12 years of cutting all forms of contacts from home, a man in his late twenties receives a letter from his sister, urging him to come home.

The story starts in a bus stop and everything else is told using flashback sequences. During the trip, he remembers (not in order) his life and how he has wasted most of it. Also during the trip, he practices how to say sorry to his father for leaving.

Some flashback sequences:

His interview at his current job with his overly aggressive feminist boss.

Him selling his car and watch to pay the bills - he claims to his friend that he took the bus because it would be cheaper.

His father who is obsessed with their bakery shop that WAS going out of business (now a big franchise)

Him eloping to the city with his pregnant girlfriend

What do you think? I want to make a dark comedy of some sort.

Note: A recurring theme would be the "no u-turn" signs on the streets. By the way, he arrives only to see his father already dead at the end.

Update:

Well.. I really did have to think about this because 70 percent of my final course grade (college) hangs on the balance.

He left because he eloped with his girlfriend (whom he got pregnant) after having a fight with his father (creating the rift between the two).

I really like actually. It's interesting and sounds like you have thought it all out. I like the ideas of flashbacks in no order too. Just one question, why did he leave in the first place?

Edit: Ah, yeah. Sounds brilliant, good luck :)

Wow! This sounds like a really unique idea with a whole lot of promise. I really like the bit aut the U-turn--that's really well thought out. It's very symbolic oif what you're trying to get across to the readers should this be published. A dark comedy would be a good way to turn it, but make sure not to make everything in flashback or it'll get kind of like a biography or something. Anyways, this is a really good idea and I would definitely read it.

I really like this. I think it, sounds like a good story being put into

place. The flashback sequences is a good idea too!(:

I really think that we have a good writer in our hands ;D.

    This is really creative.

Some thoughts need to be more thought out, however,

    everything else is A+ Material.
