Having had sex before, do you think you can be celibate for five years?

I'm coming up on five years now (two more months to go). Before that relationship I had been celibate for five years and four months...and before that it had been four+ years. In other words, sure it is "realistic"...you can be celibate as long as YOU want...I know I have no intentions of giving up my celibate status any time soon...perhaps never.

Why would you want to deny yourself something that is so wonderfully great and natural? Because of a god? Why would a creator of everything, something that is omnipotent and all knowing be so concerned with your sex life?

No, I don't think that's being realistic. I feel that you are only going to suffer because sex is wonderful and natural and nothing to be ashamed of.

Been there, done that.

After I had my son, the "daddy" ran.....and I was just so fed up with everything. So I just concentrated on having my own life and raising my son. He was almost five before I really had any serious interest in anyone again.

And THEN I found the man of my dreams.....and he's a great dad, too!

Give yourself celibacy? You sound like a sexual atheist - you don't believe in sex.

It's certainly possible, I did it but I don't see the point in setting it as a goal.

Would you resist a future relationship simply because you'd set yourself this goal?

Why would you want to? Life is short enough. Why be miserable as well. I was celibate through my entire childhood and hated it.

I think you just need to consider relative celibacy.

I would never put time constraints on myself when it comes to those matters. Life is much more fun when things are spontaneous and left to chance
